TV3: ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama on MALAYSIA TODAY (MALAYSIA HARI INI- MHI)

29 June 2010 TV3 Sri Pentas, Bandar Utama.  The ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP was scheduled to be LIVE on air at the MALAYSIA TODAY (Malaysia Hari Ini (MHI) program at 7:30am.

The ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama was represented by Daing Daniel Fitri as the lead instructor with the OBC Rank of Sarge, Sandy Roberts (OBC-Rank Corporal), Chun Chia Kai, James Fong, Syed Mahadzir Syed Manshor, Yam Chan SiuCheh, Lizza Abdul Rahim, Rose Emini Pahamin, Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Ody Lana, Dr Malek Aziz, Farhanah Bamadhaj and Armin Baniaz Pahamin... me.

We arrived at the Sri Pentas at 6:45am and prepared the site located at the main entrance of Sri Pentas.

We laid down the selected 'equipments' namely Ropes, Tyres and sandbags and began with a warm-up.

Since it was the first visit to many of the recruits from the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama, I conned them into thinking this was how Hollywood look like and they should pose inside the building.

I mean we are all a bunch of camwhores and do not need much convincing but I did not want them to feel stupid like 'Jakun'.

After a brief cam-whoring, we gathered outside for a short warm-up... basically to release the stress of being infront of the camera. SomeOne start feeling sick, anotherOne start feeling nauseatte, someOne else's lips start twitching automatically and anotherOne wanted to poopoo...

10 minutes counting down..... we were asked to standby... suddenly, Dr Malek Aziz's mustache stood up, Rose Emini Pahamin's heart-beat became a techno sound and Nawal Aini Zulkifli started having Cold sweat.... The rest.... needless to say..

Yam Chan Siu Cheh left her trade-mark torn pants and wore the new one..

Sandy Roberts: Oooh this is frightening.....

We cracked up some jokes to avoid being 'stress'... The recording was meant to be fun and informal...

While we were waiting for the Q, Admin Farhanah was busy distributing flyers..

The counting-down is in 2 minutes........

1 minute... and 3... 2.... 1............
I have to admit, I too felt the chill although this was my 6th LIVE on-air. Once, I almost went blank at Astro Awani but that too went well.. Thank God...

We are on AIR!!! I had a microphone fix inside my t'shirt and was not allowed to speak until prompted. We began with Sarge Dann giving an instructions to all recruits as the first element of Military-inspired was to listen and performed the instruction given.

The first demonstration was the Battling Ropes...

A moment after the demonstration began, I was interviewed by both the MHI Host, Ally Iskandar & Faris Yahya

I explained the origin of The ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP. The Original Bootcamp is a 20 years old program that was established by an ex-infantry SOLDIER from Australia popularly known as CHIEF BRABON.

The program designed from Chief Brabon's experience as a Soldier and combined from more than 30 established skills that was acquired by Chief Brabon. (See his profile HERE)
The Battling Ropes was only one of the many skills that will be used at the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP training. The training program inculcated skill from the Battling Ropes, the Cage, TRX, tactical athlete, Cross-fit, Kettle ball, POSE running etc, etc.

Although it is a Military-Inspired camp, but there are NO SCREAMING or SHOUTING by the INSTRUCTORS... this is against our company policy. The most important element of the military is the discipline. During the training, every second is important!!. When the instructor gave any instruction such as 30 seconds water-break... it means by THIRTY SECOND, recruit must be able to be back in their respective position in THIRTY SECOND.. It is also important to note that NO RECRUITS (participants) are left behind. Akin of a solider at war, everybody must stood as a team. Every participants are assessed and categories according to their fitness level. The categories are Rangers, Seals and Delta.

There are various other bootcamps in the world but the oldest military inspired bootcamp is the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP from Australia. Every trainers at the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP were trained and mentored by Chief Brabon from Australia himself whom commuted to Malaysia on a Monthly basis.

The success in the program lies in 2 factor. Firstly, the 20 years old tailor-made circuits that was made available online via the Mentoring-Program for all authorized personnel to refer and used for each session at the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP. Thus, the workout will differ in every session. Secondly, the competency of our instructors that were trained by Chief Brabon from Australia. All instructors are/will be vetted and assessed/re-assessed before a rank is given to them. For instructor's ranking, see HERE. Even though all the instructors at the ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama are either a many-times marathon finishers or they are national representative for either Taekwando or some sports and/or a Sports Science graduate. Although they are all with credentials but they must still be graded and assessed by Chief Brabon before employment. For details of ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP @ Bandar Utama instructors click HERE. This reiterate the "Leader by Example" attitude.. All instructors are able to performed better, any circuits prescribed to the recruit.

In fact, every year in August, all lead-instructors from every ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP worldwide are required to attend the instructor's Convention in Sydney, Australia. The next ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP Convention will be held on 19 August 2010.

The host then interviewed Daing Daniel Fitri as our Lead-instructor. Daing Daniel explained how every participants must first performed the benchmark Assessment before they began the program. The Benchmark assessment is done on the first day of the program and upon completing the twelve sessions.

Daniel explained the process of the benchmark assessment and how every recruit must fill-up a form to determine their health and medical condition.

The instructors will then train the recruit base on the recruit benchmark assessment and their medical and health condition.

  1. sorry, but i fail to see how you are making people healthyer by indulge in nasilemak, roticanai, teh tarik after your bootcampsja

  2. Hyee Che Razzani,

Err.. imagine health without exercising + roti canai + nasi lemak + teh tarik etc tec.. EEeeekk!!! horrible...

On a softer note, exercising is a lifestyle and diets are important. If there should be any sin-ful meal, the best time to have them is in the morning but that does not necessarily means we can eat all the sinful meals daily in the morning but occasional in moderation (eg once a week) is acceptable.

    Thank you for dropping by.

  3. It's all about creating a balance.

Bootcamp is a great way to challenge yourself both physically and mentally, and a little indulgence taken in moderation is ok as long as you don't over-indulge. Aside from that, the positive energy and sense of comradeship amongst fellow bootcampers is not something that I find in other group classes that I've attended previously - which makes this a great experience.

In the one month that I joined bootcamp, I've actually lost 2kgs and improved my timing for my 10k run... and yes, it was achieved despite the occasional roti canai and teh tarik...
