This trip back to Phnom Pehn was abit more relaxed compared to those previous trips. We were able to have a quiet lunch on arrival at the regular luncheon place.
Then we head straight to our Hotel.
Beside work.. We did 10 new things in Phnom Pehn? (ok not all are new things but at least recorded)
1) Enjoy the SCENIC VIEW OF THE MEKONG RIVER (from hotel room)
View of mekong river from our hotel room
Nothing beats the sunset view of the Mekong River after a hard day at work.
2) DINING BY THE RIVERSIDE
3) DROVE A LEFT-HAND DRIVE CAR!!!
After a few visits here, we hardly had time for sight seeing and so we made it an effort to drive in town to have a first hand feel of the once french occupied country. Actually, the best french left-over was their bread!!! The bread was so good, it reminded me of our stay in Paris a few years back.
We borrowed a car from the hotel and had our first experience driving a left-hand drive car.
We drove through town and was stopped by the police for driving through a red-light traffic!
It cost us a hefty US$2.00, two dollar in bribe to avoid being issued with a ticket. Two dollar... thats all.
4) ATE DURIAN!!!
We drove to town to see what the town has to offer and found DURIAN.. pronounced as DURAN in khmer.
It look like Durian... it smells of durian..... Aah.. it is DURIAN!!
NO WE COULD NOT WAIT.. okay.. not we but I could not wait till we reach hotel, so we ate first!!!
Every seed was HUGE!!! but oh well... we finished them all
5) VISIT THEIR WORKSHOP!!!
After the Durian feast, the car air-condition suddenly felt warm.. so we stopby the workshop to have it repaired and also to look at how the pricing and the service of Khmer workshop.
6) WINDOW SHOPPING
7) EXERCISING THE ORIGINAL WAY!!!
I FOUND THE ALTERNATIVE TO THE ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP!!!!!!!!!!!! its more original... !!8) SIGHT-SEEING
I saw this nice colorful structure.. and had to pose a few
for the album
The colorful structure turned out to be tombstone..
or graveyard for the dead.
9) MEET THE PEOPLE
Then we pose with the locals whom must have thought that we were some idiot posing at the tombstone.
If there is one thing that is standard to all khmer, it must be their kindness. Khmer are very friendly, kind and full of smiles.
we walk along their schools..
10) VISIT THE COBBLER
Everytime I visit Phnom Pehn, my shoe soles will torn out. Somehow these boutique designer shoes are not made for walking.. maybe for display only.
Dino holding my torn shoe....
Both my Bally and Moreshi shoe soles received the same fate
For US$2.00 / two dollar.... its fixed.
Thats it!!! 10 things I did in Phnom Pehn over and above the endless meeting after meeting. The best was the DURINAN FEAST!!! oh god... i need to workout now.
But this is another new resolution... to do at least 10 new things on every trip. yay......
Until then, Stay tune.........
