21 MAY 2010 Friday, Padang Merbuk. We were awake even before the alarm clock screamed. After 8 months of waking up at 4:30am daily, our biological clock had accustomed to the early morning wake-up call. Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Rose Emini Pahamin and I cruised slowly to padang merbuk at only 140km per hour. We were excited to graduate with honours on another month of ACE. I was absent for the first time with a sprained ankle but had it replaced with the instructors training at bandar Utama which had been ongoing for the whole month in May.
We arrived 10 minutes before the session start and I quietly went for the last piss-in the bushes.. A moment I can only enjoy at KL Alpha, Padang Merbuk. To be honest, that was the first time in 20 years... since I last 'pissed' in public!! Okaaay.. maybe I dont need to be so honest but it did feel good... doing 'it' in the open .At OBC-Bandar Utama, I have to settle for the boring conventional public toilet. Why cant we all be 'green'.
Of course, Padang Merbuk is not only famous for its green toilet but also for its fresh, watery chocolatey mud. The weather celebrated our last day at Padang Merbuk with a heavy downpour giving us the best taste of Merbuk mud.
Our instructors Sarge Sim, Corporal Hafiz Omar and Corporal Elin Klemetsen Fossum were all looking cheerful although deep down, I can feel they too, like us, are sad that we are leaving. EIGHT MONTHS is along time to be departed. Sarge Sim even gave us a 100% discount from any AWOL-punishment by not doing a roll-call. The recruits were smiling from ear to ear and we happily did our warming up until suddenly Sarge Sim asked in shock.... "Is that Sarge Faizal?", as he saw someOne was getting out of his black Proton.... 5 minutes late!! FIVE MINUTES!!! "Eeer.. I dont think thats Faizal, it cant be faizal", I said while doing the side stepping. Then I hear a recruit whispering.. its FAIZAL!!!
and needless to say, we (not the intructors) had a jog-punishment around the big car park... Thank you Faizal for the last day gift. The platoon was then divided into team Alpha and team Bravo. Team bravo left with Corporal Hafiz Omar and Sarge Sim took team Alpha.
Corporal Hafiz Omar, explained the knockout circuit. While he was explaining... my eye was starring deep into the two huge tyres and two god damn big ropes. I volunteered to be the first to start. There was only 1 recruit that went in the circuit while all other recruit-in-waiting, had to performed a few fix exercises waiting for my return. "In Position", commanded Corporal Hafiz..... 3, 2, 1...... began!! and I started FLIPPING the huge tyres from point A to point B and back to point A. Flipping the tyre worked out the leg and the core muscle group.
After Flip-the-Tyre, we ran forward to the next station and saw a huge rope as big as my calve tied to a big tyre. There were two rope-ends, one end for each hand and we had to created a wave with the rope for 20 seconds sending the arm, shoulder and back into a blazing burn. Then we run to the third station and grab a 10 meter long mother of all rope (radius twice bigger than my calve), carried it on my shoulder and sprint with the rope from point A to Point B then back to Point A before sprinting back to starting point and tap the next person. This was repeated for a total of 20 minutes before we leave for Sarge Simran's circuit.
With Sarge Simran, the platoon was divided into 4 teams that comprised of 6 members per team. All the four team members were then divided further into team Alpha and team bravo with 3 person per team. Team Alpha stayed at starting point and team bravo waited at the last end of the circuit.
The circuit began with team Alpha, running Zig Zag from point A to B to C and D. I had to drop down at A to Point B and bear walk from point C to Point D. At point D, we had to carry two huge water tank bypassing wnother zig zag point E to point F After that, we Leopard crawl to the last end-point and stood up, carried another water tank and performed squat & shoulder press for twelve repetitions.
The last session, as how we predicted was funtabulous and excellent. We were all soaked in sweat and mud. After the warming down, we walked to the car park.
At the car park, KL Alpha surprised Lizza Abdul Rahim with a birthday cake. Its her birthday today and probably our last celebration at KL Alpha.

I first joined the bootcamp 8 months ago...... I have to admit, I labelled Sarge Simran as a Taliban!! Infact, that nickname lasted in my first few blogs until one day I realized that he was not such a terrorist after all (despite all the grunts)... although I was terrifed with that thick beard. Our Sarge Dann, tried to grow that Taliban beard but it came out looking like charlie chaplin. The energy, enthusiasm and passion in him was felt in every session. Thank you for making health and fitness such a wonderful experience.
Corporal Elin Klemetsen Fossum is an instructor with a few words. we seldom speak except for Hyee and byeee... but seriously, everytime when she demonstrate a workout....... everybody will be echoing the whispers behind her.. "She is so fit and strong!!!!" Elin, thank you for the guidance while we were at KLA...
Bruce, Suzy and Jessie Headgrey.... Dad, Mum and Daughter... The only :family members" at KL Alpha.

As if the session was not enough to bid farewell....... we all gathered for a dinner to cherish, mesmerize the past 8 months of being together..... actually everybody just need a reason to party.... We met at the WIP, Bangsar Shopping Centre.
