CAMWHORING AT PROTON CONVENTION WITH PAPARAZZI NOOR AFFENDI MOHD KARIM

If there was one community that was close enough to be called a family, then it must be the Proton Edar community!! When I was first born into the community via my appointment as a dealer in 1997, Proton Edar had less than 200 staff and the dealers operation department was only a two-man show managing 86 showroom and less than 100 service centres in the network. We were the number 1 biggest manufacturer and Perodua was second. Now.. Proton Edar employs more than 2,000  manpower with approximately more than 220 showroom and more than 200 service centres nationwide. The total direct employment in PROTON exceeded 12,000 employees and combined with DRB-Hicom's total workforce of 55,000 people, there are now 67,000 employment in DRB-Hicom eco-system.

Forget the 67,000 people, Proton Edar family has grown so big, that I even felt a stranger whenever I entered the Centre of Excellence complex in Subang Jaya. Once, I used to be able to walk into the building and recognise by name every single employee including the tea lady. The Proton Sales and Service Convention was one avenue that is important to foster the spirit of camaraderie within the community. As in every other years, all sales & service branches and dealers, those in regional offices nationwide as well as those attached at the Head Office were all united at the Glenmarie Ballroon, Holiday Inn, Kuala Lumpur. Click HERE for the first Blog on the Convention, this second blog is mostly picturesque blog. Again, thank you Noor Affendi Mohd Karim for the pictures (Click on picture to enlarge).

PROTON EDAR DEALERS CONVENTION 2012: HABIH RHENG

Francis Ong Wee Mun, Head of ROMS, Lee Lick Sai (VP/PEDA), Kamsani Ahmad (Group Marketing), Hisham Othman (CEO/EON), Kamarul Zaman (DRB-Hicom/PROTON), Armin Baniaz Pahmin (President/PEDA), Ahmad Suhaimi (CEO/PESB), Abdul Sidik Hamid (GM/PESB), Abu Lais Walli Mohamed

HOLIDAY INN, Glenmarie 19 May 2012. Contrary to previous convention which was either held at the Sunway Resort, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, One World Hotel or those of similar sizes, this year the dealers convention was held at a smaller grand ballroom at the Holiday Inn, Glenmarie making full use of assets under DRB-HICOM stable of companies.

That was not the only noticeable changes within the PROTON eco-system but the DRB-Hicom DNA was seen significantly visible at every corner. For a start, PROTON EDAR senior management was in the same uniform with a homogeneous neck tie... a prominent culture within DRB-Hicom (see Dato Sri Kamil and his management team's neck ties at HERE and see PESB at 2010 Convention and 2011 Convention). This is expected and more changes will be seen now that PROTON Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of DRB-HICOM. Yes, PROTON was successfully recently de-listed from the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.

The function began with Dato Sri Syed Zainal Abidin in his usual humble but very inspiring self, extended his gratefulness to the whole network for the support extended to PROTON and apologized for some policies and deliverables that was slow in execution. Dato Sri Syed Zainal, whom is probably the only automotive Manufacturer in the world that shook the hand of all his 4,500 sales advisors nationwide in a gathering earlier this year said, his only passion was to make PROTON as the number 1 people's choice and Malaysia's best selling vehicle. However, he continued in a frustrated voice, "a Kelantanese would say 'Habih Rheng' doh!!" That sentence has many meaning but let us not speculate. Dato Sri Syed Zainal's most important message is for the owners of the dealer to take charge of his dealership and make changes. There is only so much that he can do but as an owner and the no 1 in the dealership's organisation, we can do much more.

ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE: CHINESE DOCTOR! ACUPUNCTURE AND HERBAL DRIPS

I was introduced to a Chinese traditional doctor by Dr M. Lamarie and Ng Ghim Hwa to detox my liver and kidney that was heavy on various drugs for CML treatment since I was in my teens to more than 10 years of various medication for diabetic, cholesterol and Gout. All these drugs will eventually damage the kidney and liver in the long run if there were no 'servicing' done. The Chinese medicine practitioner was located near the Fatty Crab Restaurant in Taman Megah and imported direct from China. The doctor who is also a graduate from western medicine at a University in Shanghai, Dr Lu Zhi Gang first came to Malaysia more than 15 years ago and is attached to Mythmedix Sdn Bhd. He does not speak Malaysia Language but understand a little bit of English. Dr Lu Zhi Gang was also one of the speaker at the World Chinese Medicine Conference recently held.

According to the Dr Lu Zhi Gang, Chinese Medicine in contrast to western medicine does not believe in 'chemicals' as a measure to overcome sickness. Infact, Chinese medicine does not believe in measure to trouble shoot any pain or sickness but it believe in restoring the body's functionality to address any sickness through balancing the body Yin and Yang. It control and cure any form of sickness from diabetic, gout to cholesterol through controlling the body metabolism.

MAKANSUTRA

Did you ever wonder what does recruits at COBC eats every day after every session and/or at anytime when they are not training? Well... one thing for certain, we always share our food menu for breakfast.. or lunch and even dinner on various Whatsapp and/or blackberry platoon channel.. and the most recent being these posting...

Maybe its true what BUB Delta Kenny Lock Heng Weng posted, that "A real man never lets his woman sleep hungry or Horny..."... but I think most men went to bed either horny or hungry!

From as early as 7am... someone would start posting food.. food and more food... Makan Makan makan... what better life is there?

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH FAIZUL ZAINOL

Faizul Zainol, a Chartered Engineer is an Operation Manager at the SapuraCrest Petroleum Berhad (2005) and a recruit at the Chief's Original Bootcamp, Malaysia (COBC) since April 2011. Faizul Zainol graduated from Oxford-Brookes University, United Kingdom in 2001. The 33 years old Chartered Engineer was also active in sports having represented his State, Kedah during his Secondary School in Badminton and table-tennis at the Malaysian School Sports Council (Majlis Sukan Sekolah Sekolah Malaysia) tournament. During his undergraduate in the United Kingdom, he represented his University in inter-university badminton tournament nationwide. Now, Faizul Zainol is an avid golfer and enjoys reading and travelling.

Despite being active in Sports, the second child in a sibling of 4 males was the biggest in size as compared to others in the family. The boy who hated running and exercise was a thoroughbred plump boy all his life and throughout his early school years but Faizul began losing weight when he was accepted into MARA Junior Science College (Maktab Rendah Sains Mara), Taiping. At boarding school, exercise was compulsory and food menu was not by choice nor was it appetizing. Faizul's weight was naturally adjusted to an ideal 85kg (height 180cm) as Faizul left home to pursue his Form 6, A' Levels in Bath, United Kingdom.

Being deprived from his choices of food, Faizul quickly indulged himself into all the food varieties when he returned home upon graduation. He was all nasi Briyani, nasi tomato, nasi kandar et cetera and even look like one. He was back looking cute with 130kg in weight and under duress, Faizul enrolled himself at the gym but was only able to shred a lousy 5kg after 4 years of training. The son to a gynecologist father was flabbergasted and immediately accepted the invitation from his friend, Siti Balqis Mohd Saidi to try out the world oldest, 21 years old military-inspired group outdoor personal training program. Siti Balqis was a recruit at the Chief's Original Bootcamp. Faizul enrolled and attended the program alone as a stranger in April 2011.

The stubborn, very self opinionated and regarded as a simple but complicated person by his wife, surrendered himself and followed the COBC program religiously. Faizul quickly became addicted to working out at COBC and lost 2kg during the first month. After a consistent and discipline training and having participated in COBC 8 Weeks Challenge, todate, Faizul had lost 20kg and had dropped 6 size down from 44" to 38".

"Most of my colleague ridiculed me during this period as I only took certain food during lunch with them. I was so determined to stick to it & at the end of the day, some of them got inspired by it & even signed up for COBC!!!", said one of the most popular guy at the Bandar Utama Alpha Platoon.

CHIA SEED MY LATEST IN

If there is one addiction of sort that I craved for everyday then it must be in those natural supplements that I have never been exhausted of trying and experimenting for the past 22 years since I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML). Since then, I have tried all sort of traditional supplements such as akar kayu and Ginseng, have seen all sort of Bomoh from Mokhtar Lintang to Gusti, taken all form of drugs from hydroxyurea to morphine, attended all traditional Chinese sinsei such as acupuncture and traditional urut (not urut batin ar!) and the likes of it; have tried various type of exercises from Chi Qong, Tai Chi to Pilates and Yoga for breathing technique, stretching and relaxation. I have also experimented various dieting form from Dr Adamo's Blood Type Diet to fresh mix vegetable juices that comprised of green apple, bitter gourd, carrot, grapefruit, cucumber, ginger and beet root which I am currently taking now and each experiment lasted at least for a year. Most of the experiments less than 3 years old were shared in this blog.

Inevitably, when we are living life at the extreme, our internals and body needed to be serviced and overhauled especially with my growing up history. My teenage livelihood was filled with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, bone marrow transplant and various treatments for CML. Lifestyle in the 20s comprised of endless sleepless night being either overdosed with meetings and deadlines and/or overworked with friends travelling, clubbing and disco'ing. In the 30s, life was fanatically full of strenuous activities from mountain climbing, dualthon, triathlon and marathons and for the past 3 years..... Bootcamp!!

BORNEO INTERNATIONAL MARATHON 2012: CONCURRED AND CONQUERED

BORNEO INTERNATIONAL MARATHON, Kota Kinabalu, 6 May 2012. It was our third trip to Kota Kinabalu with the first two, to climbed up the highest peak in Malaysia Mount Kinabalu and now the third, to run a full marathon course. Sista Rose Emini Pahamin had run the race (half marathon) twice but this was our first BIM... an adhoc crazy decision we made 7 hours before the actual run especially since our race were sponsored by TWL & Sarah Tan. To top that, we were also strongly and endlessly seduced by the mouth salivating list of food and especially the list of COBC recruits running the race!!

After everything was confirmed, I realized the 'weather' condition.. before 7am it look like this...

Oh my God.....  I am fried!!!

A group from COBC arrived a day earlier and May Lyn Wong who was in the first group collected our running BIB and race kits...

AN HONEST MISTAKE!

"We all found that we really identified with it. After all, who has not make at least one big mistake in their lives that they have not regretted? Basically its being honest with ourselves and staying true to who we are, despite the mistakes we have made or the different life paths we have chosen..." that was how the name for the pop-punk with swirls of frenetic screamo band that launched its 2nd album at the Publica on 29 April 2012, was agreed and picked by Darren Teh and his band.

There were no mistake when we attended and had a funtabulous time experiencing so much energy on stage upon receiving personal invitation from its lead vocalist cum guitarist and a fellow comrade at the Chief's Original Bootcamp, Darren Teh. [Picture: Darren (on right)'s hair was red-der than my shirt and longer than Nawal's]

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH ABDUL AZIZAM

Abdul Azizam, a Sabahan and a worldwide Ahmadiyaa muslim community missionary moved to Penang in 2010 and probably had the shock of his life with Penang food delight that saw his weight prospering to a whopping 98kg... 2kg short of hitting the 3 digit weight level. It did not help too with Abdul Azizam or more fondly known on facebook as Sam Kaola's passion in cooking!! He did not just love to eat but he also loves to cook... a deadly combination. When an average Penangite would go clubbing at night or layparking by the beach, Azizam would go restaurant-hopping trying out various food ports available in the island. Infact, Azizam kept a chart and list of best eateries in every part of Penang (hah.. now we know who to contact for food in Penang). While others who landed in Penang would visit all the historical and tourist attraction sites, Azizam would be exploring all restaurants and that was exactly what he did when his family visited him in Penang from Sabah. He brought them to eat all around the island as oppose to bringing them site-touring that little island.

Abdul Azizam never gave up during his training

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH NORLIZA MOHD KHALID

Norliza Mohd Khalid, a pioneer member at the Chief's Original Bootcamp (COBC) was all books and  studies during her late teens before pursuing her tertiary education in ICSA or the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK. Although a bookworm and all studious, Norliza Mohd Khalid or more fondly known as Liza had an early exposure into an active lifestyle during her childhood when she grew up with 4 brothers and mostly boy circle of friends. Being surrounded by mostly boys, Liza was even described as a tomboy and did everything what boys would do such as playing outdoors in dirty muddy playground within her neighborhood vicinity. From merely playing in the hoods, Liza became more active in her early teens and was in the track and field team at school in long jump and 400m and relay (4x100m and 4x400m). She even took part in the school's cross country every year but only until she was in her mid-teens (Form 3).

Liza put in more emphasis into her studies and took a back seat in sports for the remaining of her high school period and even when she pursued her education in ICSA. When she graduated and obtained her ICSA (UK) in 1998, she began her career with Geowell Sdn Bhd which is principally involved in wireline and well completion services specializing in oil and gas. She is currently the Chartered Secretary for the company and its associate companies.

The shy and reserved lady enjoyed playing games such as hopscoth, rounders, badminton, chasing (kejar-kejar), bicycle racing and hide and seek when she was growing up. Now, Liza occupies her spare time with reading especially those on issues relating to health and fitness, motherhood and children, and self empowerment. She enjoys travelling and love to explore different beaches and new cities. Being fitter, now Liza would only participate in sports and games that require physical strength especially in running tracks and fields.

LSD 14: SRI HARTAMAS

After yesterday's food feast at the ORANG ASLI TRAIL RUN 2012 (see: here), I had no choice but to force myself out of bed this morning for the LSD 14 run training scheduled at Sri Hartamas at 6:15am. Although we target for only 10km but this we plan a faster pace for this LSD or the Durian and the Fish Head Curry and the Gearbox will be permanently converted to fat!! So we woke up and ran!!

LSD or Long Slow Distance run is an effort by the Chief's Original Bootcamp (COBC) Admin Rose Emini Pahamin and COBC Celebrity Runner Ilyanna Aylin Ayob (whom is in Mecca performing her Umrah) to promote running as a healthy lifestyle over and above the 3x a week training at COBC. This LSD is also a mean to foster a closer community within the COBC past, present and future recruits.

Since early this year, we have organized the LSD on a weekly basis at different location as follows:

ORANG ASLI TRAIL RUN 2012

The Orang Asli (OA) (Indigenous People) Trail Run 2012 was held for the second year at kampung 16, Jalan Bentong Lama (GPS coordiates: 3.325979, 101.754792) by the Running For Orang Asli support group. We all run for various reasons but the noble objectives of the organiser for the Orang Asli Trail Run was heart warming. This year, the purpose of the run was primarily for:

1. For Kg Batu 14, Jalan Bentong Lama, a piece of the OA land is being cultivated to be a showcase of OA houses and huts for community centers exemplifying the lifestyle and culture of OA. The intention for this center is to create an eco tourism business for the villagers as extra income whilst maintaining their heritage. This is a sustainable project that the Running for Orang Asli group would like to assist. Reasons to which why they are yet to a obtain government grants will be made known in the event.

2. For Kg Batu 16, Jalan Bentong Lama, this event is created to give an avenue for them to earn extra income by providing the venue for the run, volunteers as marshalls and guides, and for cooking some OA dishes. The OA too would prefer to work for their income rather than be always dependant on donations.
Although the CHIEF'S ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP (COBC) Community run merely for fitness and health but we were all in support for the cause of the support group to raise fund for the betterment of the indigenous people. In fact, our COBC recruit May Lyn Wong had even registered herself as a volunteer for the group.  In an army of more a few dozens pax, we convoyed to the OA basecamp.

1 TROOP, 1 WEEKEND, 6 RACES, 4 COUNTRIES.. CHIEF'S ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP TROOPS BROKE OUR RECORD WITH MOST EVENTS PARTICIPATED IN JUST 1 WEEKEND!!

22 April 2012 was the weekend that COBC-Community broke our own record having our troops conquered 6 events in a single weekend. COBC or the Chief's Original BootCamp Malaysia (COBC) community comprised of individuals from a couch potatoes to an athlete whom strived for a better health and fitness. Majority of those in the community were ordinary Tom, Dick and Harry whom had never exercised and had never participated in any races or events but they are now a keen and avid runner. They participated in various events as the COBC team. Our troops conquered our biggest challenge, that was our inner fear that most of the time, sabotaged our own direction forward. Our troops conquered the Sepang Energizer Night Race, the Singapore ECO 350, Indonesia Maybank Bali International Marathon, Penang D'Nonce International Hiking Challenge 2012 and Larian Mesra PDRM... 5 EVENTS in just one weekend... If that was not orgasmic enough, the founder of Original Bootcamp, Australia (our partner) Chief's Brabon and a whole bunch of recruits in Sydney Australia completed the Men's Health Urbanathlon with even a bigger HOOYAH!!

More than twenty from the COBC ran the Energizer Night Race (ENR) 2012. The "energizer" believe that everyone has the power to make a positive impact and the run was to spread the positive energy. That energy together with the COBC's Spirit of Bootcamp, our Delta Joe Liew Yaw Loong and Delta Norliza Mohd Khaled ran the Sepang International F1 Race Circuit track and completed the race with not just the biggest HOOYAH but with Joe Liew within the ENR's overall top 50 best and our Norliza Mohd Khaled completing the race being no 2 best under Women's Open category.

Other runners from COBC whom rock the track, had funtabulous time were Rose Emini Pahamin, Nyna Mohsen, Hani Hussin Azmir, Viki Lim, Lilian Lee, Joannita Zaleha Yusoff, Noor A. Othman, Norliza Mohd Khaled, Tan Wee Liam, May Lyn Wong, Joe Liew Yaw Loong, Izwana Ismail, Diyana Alias, Zaidi Ahmad, Advance Tan, Faizul, EC Chan, James Fong, Jeffery Wong, and Ali Rahimi Ferdosinezhad.

MAYBANK BALI INTERNATIONAL MARATHON 2012

We were faced with various obstacles to run the race in Bali with the earthquake in Indonesia, bad pollution from the open fire burning, the driver-supir 1 hour late-arrival to pick us up at the Villa, the hot sun, the heat, the humid weather... Oh the list was endless but despite all that, we successfully conquered the Maybank Bali International Marathon 2012.

A troop of 12 from the Chief's Original Bootcamp left for Denpasar, Bali in three batches over the weekend. The first to arrive was Afiza Abdul Halin that took the 9am, Malaysian Airlines Flight on Friday, 20 April 2012. The same day, Caleb Lian Yoong Lauw and Angela Loo left at 3:45pm by Airasia and Shazni Zubir, Affik Zaki and Maslina Ahmad Ismail departed via Airasia at 6pm flight. On Saturday, Dalyn Nunis arrived shortly before ours. Our flight comprised of Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Aaraf Armin and me. Micaela Soyza and Sheikh Hisham were the last in that arrived on Sunday.

We stayed at the Villa Rumah Santai at Seminyak.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH MAY LYN WONG

In two months, May Lyn Wong will be celebrating her 2nd year anniversary since she joined the Chief's Original Bootcamp (COBC) that had initially only cost her RM49 during the first trial month via the Groupson promotion. Her first year in the COBC network was under a different franchisee before the current management took over. The iron lady of Subang Jaya USJ1 Charlie platoon was always envious of those athlete with great stamina and well toned body because she was never good nor was she seriously active in sports. She only participated in various sports activities during school to graduate with an impressive school-leaving-certificate. May Lyn Wong was the jacks of all trade in all sport activities from netball, hockey, squash, basketball and all other sports but those enthusiasm barely lasted more than 2 months. That was May Lyn's deepest dedication to any sport activity.... 2 months.

Although her interest in each of the activity was never lasting but May Lyn was never exhausted in experimenting various outdoor activities. In her early 20s, she had been out Scuba Diving but that too did not last, citing scarcity in Cash as the reason having only started work then. May Lyn had endless trying-all-activities-and-stop cycles but the most memorable was the climb up Mt Kinabalu in her late 20s. Although unfit but May Lyn was able to reach the highest peak in South-East Asia and had the privilege of having the whole peak to herself to camwhore because everyone else had already descended by the time May Lyn reached the top.
